The F35g is a g3 gas insulated switchgear up to 145 kV, 3150 A and 40 kA that uses GE’s revolutionary g3 gas mixture as an insulation and switching alternative to diesel.
The F35g with g3 is designed to provide the same performance and reliability as existing gas appliances. In this way, the environmental impact of gas segregation is avoided. Compared to gas-fired power plants, they have the same dimensions and space requirements, without requiring drastically more raw materials, such as, compared to other SF6 alternatives. B. aluminum, must be used. In addition, the same technical design, level of security and reliability are maintained.
The most important features include the very low impact of gas emissions on the atmosphere (99% compared to SF6). In addition, it has a first-class ecological balance, which takes into account all environmental aspects from production to the end of its life.
The F35g is a compact and affordable solution with a footprint below the market average. Up to 2 compartments are assembled, connected, tested and shipped, reducing on-site labor time. It is the first non-gas g3 gas insulated substation up to 145 kV to be rated by ENA in the UK.
GE leverages its 50 years of experience in the design, material selection, development, engineering, manufacturing and maintenance of gas-insulated substations. GE F35g meets the requirements of networks up to 145 kV for power generation, transmission, distribution and heavy industrial applications.
A range of options are available for the F35g on-site control unit:
The advantages of a digital control unit are numerous:
The F35g can be equipped with a digitally controlled circuit in combination with a single-pole automatic switch.
Optimizing the closing and opening of the switch is extremely important. This is because unintentional switching can lead to high transient overvoltages and/or high inrush currents.
These transients place stress on the substation and grid equipment, resulting in accelerated aging or, in the worst case scenario, a fire in the high-voltage equipment.
