Live Tank circuit breakers

Rated voltage 362 kV

Rated frequency 50 Hz

Rated current 4000/5500 A

Rated short-circuit current up to 50/63 kA

High mechanical strength and very low probability of re-tripping according to IEC 62271100 class M2 &C2

Detachable option for easy and quick installation

Closing resistor placed in the same gas volume as the shut-off chamber

GE’s GL 315 live tank circuit breakers for outdoor installations are equipped with third-generation switching chambers and spring mechanisms (FK). These reliable connection chambers operate on the principle of energy-optimized self-exhaust. FK3 type mechanisms equip the entire range of circuit breakers with over 180,000 references around the world.

GL 315 mechanisms are reliable and proven in high voltage switchboards, ensuring high mechanical strength and very low probability of re-tripping in accordance with the IEC 622271-100 standard class M2 and C2. The switches have a disconnect option, which allows for quick and easy installation. To simplify maintenance, the closing resistor is located in the same gas volume as the breaker compartment.

Components

  • Single pole design
  • Two connection chambers per pole
  • FK3 spring mechanism equipped with a position indicator visible from the outside
  • Reliable, temperature-compensated density meter with two-stage signaling and three-color indicator
  • Easy access to the SF6 filling valve (DILO type)
  • Seals designed to operate at temperatures down to -60°C
  • Hot galvanized steel parts and mechanism housing made entirely of aluminum

Options

  • Standard low voltage equipment, additional equipment available
  • Composite insulators available
  • Seismic dampers for high seismic requirements can be supplied
  • Pressure relief system for passive protection of both substation and personnel
  • RPH3 controller: for triggering and closing Pointonwave relays
  • CBWatch: compact and modular circuit breaker monitoring solution
  • Closing resistors (GL 315D) limiting high and harmful overvoltages

Installation and maintenance

  • Factory setting before shipment, no adjustments necessary during installation or commissioning
  • Possibility of dismantling the connection chambers without removing the entire pole

Testing

Live tank switches meet the requirements of national and international standards. This has been confirmed by comprehensive type testing based on the latest versions of IEC standards.

Quality

GE’s quality (ISO 9001:2008), environmental (ISO 14001:2004) and occupational health and safety (OHSAS 18001:2007) management systems define procedures for the development and production of high-voltage circuit breakers. These systems ensure high quality of products and services, which is confirmed by regular audits.
